O’Connors advises on Express Solicitors acquisition

Personal injury law firm Express Solicitors has made a maiden acquisition by acquiring small regional rival Lavin Copitch for £250,000.

The deal comprises the acquisition of all Lavin Copitch Solicitors’ work-in-progress totaling several hundred personal injury files. The firm has two offices – Gorton run by Lawrence Copitch and Altrincham run by Tom Lavin. Both will now retire, but two support staff will be joining Express Solicitors.

Express Solicitors’ first ever acquisition was made possible due to a £4.1m refinancing package from RBS Corporate following the firm’s successful conversion to alternative business structure (ABS) status last month.

Managing partner James Maxey said: “We’re delighted to announce our first acquisition, which is part of our ambitious growth strategy. Our team of specialist lawyers are looking forward to continuing the good work that Lavin Copitch Solicitors has started and providing a seamless and exceptional service for its clients.”

Tom Lavin added: “Following the acquisition, experts at Express Solicitors will now provide our clients with the high quality legal service they are renowned for as they help them fight for the justice they deserve.”

Express Solicitors, based in Northenden south Manchester, was advised by accountants Simpson Burgess Nash and law firm O’Connors LLP.
